What is Kido'z?
Kido'z.net is a free download, kid- friendly browser with no adware, nor spyware, made especially for kids 2-8 years old. It is totally customizable by parents or teachers. Adults create an account, then kids create an account to register. Adults can then customize the online environment for their kids by modifying the content, daily usage, start/exit settings, and even browser security. It's a safe, social-network for kids!
At Kido'z.net, kids can be on-line in a safe environment where they can explore, learn, create, interact, and communicate. Kido'z offers an email system for young kids with a drawing board complete with animated backgrounds and stickers. Kids can then communicate with other Kido'z friends that have been pre-approved by their parents or teachers.
Kido'z is a safe, on-line environment with pre-approved websites like FunBrain, Sprout, Dora, PBS Kids, and one of my favorites..National Geographic for Little Kids. There's even videos and fun, educational games as well.
This would be an excellent tool to use with PreK-2nd grade. I especially like the email system and password protected aspect of this Web 2.0 tool. This would be useful to use across grade level or with penpals where students could email their pre-approved friend list to detail the school week, share upcoming school events, or even post a story. A great communication tool!
